I would always recommend that you register your own domain name and ensure you keep ownership of it. As long as you own your domain you can easily switch web hosting and email supplier without too much hassle.
My preferred domain registration company is 123-reg. As they allow you to point the domain to any hosting and email service, you have total control over your domain.
So how do you register a domain ?
- Go to 123-reg;
Create a new account. - Once signed into the control panel -> go to buy a new domain.
- Search for your domain, it will tell you if it is available or not. If it is not search for an alternative. Select the domain extension you would like i.e (co.uk or .com). I would generally recommend one of these two.
- Add to basket and checkout.
- Once you own the domain name you can then edit the DNS Settings to point the domain to any web server or email service.
Take good care of your domain name. It is part of your company’s identity.
